I really want to escape to a different server and pick up an Alliance avatar again, but I'm loathe to leave behind Taidan and his progress, (Gear) and twice as grumpy about the idea of playing two characters at the same time when there are so many other great games waiting to be played.

That said, at least my daily WoW routine is down to about 20 minutes, not including the raids, which is the main reason I log on.

It seesm TWG aren't recruitnig at the moment, so I'll give that a miss for now. Saw Khoine the other night, I'm not about to re-join villains unless I'm planning to stay there though, nice to know the door isn't completey shut though. I'm just doing dailies and using the dungeon finder to run heroics aat the moment, though I really don'k like what it's doing for player relations. I'm beginning to positively despise the very tanks I'm supposed to be keeping alive...

I am so tempted to fork out for another 3 months just to see what effect my new graphics card has on it. Hell, tellys crap nowadays, might go for it. None of that Horde stuff anyway. Give the old quests one last swagger before they all get exploided to bits.

When I'm not ranting on about the state of the PC Zone magazine  Naughty I'm on Steamwheedle Cartel, I play quite casually, just chillin' really while stabbing things. Enjoying being a rogue, I also have a hunter and a shammie low levels for when things blow up.

After a couple of month's badgering and insincere cajoling from some old friends of mine, I've transferred Taidan to Doomhammer to play in a self proclaimed "Hardcore Guild", which is something I'd sworn I'd never do again after the "Vanilla WoW" days.

Oddly enough, I'm actually loving it, it's totally rekindled my interest in WoW again. There's something to be said for spending two or three whole evenings wiping on a single bastard-hard boss, and the sense of achievement when you finally down the f**ker. It's as good as it was in the "Good Old Days", when we were doing the same thing in Blackwing Lair.

Doomhammer is like an absolute paradise after suffering Runetotem for so long. There aren't any Italians there, for one, and the Horde owns Wintergrasp most of the time even though they're outnumbered by the Alliance by about 50%. Attitudes seem just a little bit better all around.

It helps that the Guild are actually quite nice guys, they're really relaxed compared to the last couple I was in, and those Guilds didn't even have the performance to match their stinky attitudes. The guild, AIAO, have currently done 9 of the 12 hardmode ICC25 bosses, but since I've joined the action late I've only done four of those myself, (from the second half of the instance, of course) and I've somehow managed to be working for every single Lich King kill since I joined. (I'm on all days for the next couple of weeks, so I will get my Kingslayer title this week, damnit!)

I'm working on getting my own Shadowmourne for my off-spec too. I've got all of the quest items, but I'm torn between dumping all of my hard-saved gold for the materials for an awesome Axe that'll be obsolete in 6 months, or saving it for whatever the big gold-sink will be in Cataclysm.

Apart from that, I've been locked in a cycle of being unable to decide which class to choose for a new Alt., and whether to start now and see the old world one more time or to wait until the expansion.

I can't help it, I'm going to have to lay down some more purile bragging.  Embarrassed

Finally managed to be present on a Lich King 25 kill today, (Although there were only 21 of us.) while doing a stupidly hard achievement at the same time. That's me well chuffed, feels like I finally finished the game I started playing back in 2002. As a bonus, I got the rather nice mace that he drops.

For an encore, a few of us went on to kill Algalon in Ulduar, although that's not much of a challenge with up-to-date gear, so I got my "Starcaller" title to go alongside my new "Kingslayer" title. Also managed to pick up a stupidly overpowered trinket while I was there, for double loot-whorage points. I actually feel slightly soiled after all of that. Wink

Still, it's not over yet. Patch incoming tomorrow, which will bring the new "Ruby Sanctum" raid.

Not been playing much last few weeks, what with World Cup and nice weather and stuff.  You reckon Doomhammer is a nice server though?

I wouldn't go as far as using the term "nice" to describe any server on WoW, but it's noticeably "less-bad" than some I've played on. The lack of Italians is quite a novelty, it instantly doubles the amount of people you can play with.

There seems to be a lot more pick-up groups raiding pretty much everywhere, although the almighty GearScore thing is still present and (in)correct, and it's really tough to go anywhere unless you've already got the achievement to prove you've been there. There do seem to be more "accomplished" Guilds around, showing off their rare hardmode mounts, and pugged raids seem to go a lot more smoothly as a result.

The most telling thing is the Wintergrasp battle. Whereas I was used to seeing regional chat full of spam and whining followed by an inevitable loss, the community on Doomhammer seems a little less fractured. They seem to just go in and get on with it.

*sniff* I'm so proud that she was originally of the Sin'dorei - I'm almost tempted to give my life so that I can be resurrected to serve her  Applause

Mind you, it's not as if the Varian is up to any nastiness, like kicking the poor and homeless out of Stormwind or anything...

I was never a big Forsaken fan, but I'll take Sylvanas over that twit Garrosh any day.

It's just a cracking shame that they can't do anything huge to the player organization with a storyline like that, it'd be awesome if the Forsaken could break away from the Horde and form a third Faction. Well, maybe for WoW II.
